FAQ

What is better V-Band or Marman?

  • Marman clamps, designed for Heavy Duty applications, and used for clamping atomic bombs down during world war2. Marmans are currently used for spaceflight systems. V-bands designed later as low-pressure clamps, and are more cost effective, due to this under high temperatures and stress they are more prone to leaks. V-bands also can be clamped off-set creating a leak, wearies Marmans cannot.

I just installed a bigger exhaust, but my car feels slower, why?

  • Larger exhaust, will not always increases power in fact can harm the engine, due to the exhaust pulse. During the exhaust stroke, the gasses escapes the cylinder quickly, creating a pulse moving down the exhaust tube. The low pressure behind the pulse creates a vacuum effect, helping pull the exhaust gasses from the engine, thus also helping the fresh air to get pulled in from the intake side faster. This process in known as the scavenging effect. now if the Exhaust Is To Big, this will not allow for the pulse to create the same vacuuming effect due to the air gaps in the tube thus creating more pressure in the valves and making the engine work harder not allowing all the exhaust gasses to escape, and less fresh air to be pulled in. its best to match the cylinder heads to the exhaust and intake especially for Natural aspirated vehicles.( Note: with cams. superchargers, turbos, valves ect. some of still this applies but as not as critical. because of the forcing of induction will create the same effect. )
